End of 2022 updates

Hi all!

I just wanted to check in really briefly with a couple of updates.

  1. I have donated again! I’ve decided to cycle through the organizations I chose instead of donating to all of them at once.

2. Unnamed Romance WIP is now in the hands of beta readers! I’m simultaneously surprised at how smoothly the writing and revision processes went this time, really proud of its current state, and 100% ready for critical feedback and more revisions. Am I, perhaps, growing and maturing as an author?????
I’ve also decided that I want to *try* to go the traditional publishing route this time. I didn’t even try to query Sweetness and Blessings, and I stand by my call that the series was just too strange and plotless to be very commercially appealing. But I think this WIP has a better shot – I think it’s objectively a higher quality work, but more pertinent might be the fact that it’s much more comparable to traditionally published books I’ve read, and also it has a PLOT. I’d really love to have more people read my stuff, so I’m going to give it a try and see what happens.

3. I want to say a huge, huge thank you to everyone who gave my books a chance this year. I can’t say how much I appreciate it. Sweetness and Blessings was published just a little over a year ago, and I’m still delighted and terrified when I see that another person has read my weird little books about gay Victorian elves overcoming abuse and colonialism. THANK YOU! ❤️❤️❤️

4. I wanted to codify my reading and writing goals for 2023:
-Finish revising Unnamed Romance WIP once I get feedback from beta readers and query it once I’m happy with revisions and editing
-Start work on my next project, which I think is either going to use the RPG-inspired-but-not-litRPG structure I’ve been considering (I thought I was going to use it for this current WIP but ended up scrapping that part) or is going to be an obscure fairy tale retelling about twins…
-Keep working on my Trauma in SFF reading project
-Stop getting so behind on my book reviews (I say this every year but maybe it’ll happen this time…)
Those are my goals, so we’ll see what happens!

I hope you all have a good end to your 2022 and as happy a start to 2023 as possible.
