- You KNOW that all the indie girlies have been freaking out about Labour by Paris Paloma since it was released a couple of months ago! (I am one of said indie girlies.) BUT OKAY LISTEN, it definitely has some Iraluri vibes, doesn’t it?????
Girl who’s written one series: Getting a lot of [her only series] vibes from Labour by Paris Paloma - I got to see Charly Bliss live in Spokane last week. Tragically, they did not play Chatroom, but less tragically, I got to hear some of their new music and it was great! Super can’t wait for their new stuff to be released. Chatroom remains my all-time favorite song.
- If you know me, you know that I have the normalest, most non-hate-boner-y feelings about ACOTAR by Sarah J Maas. I’m so normal about it, in fact, that I wrote a 25-page dissertation about why I hate Rhysand more than any other fictional character ever. Read/watch it if you want to see just how normal I am about this topic.
- Querying is at a standstill with no first round sucesses. Right now I’m working really hard on getting more feedback and revising with as critical an eyes as I can. I’m getting more comfortable with the alternate possibilities that 1) this book just isn’t as marketable/traditionally appealing as I thought it might be or 2) my writing isn’t to a level that’s traditionally competitive yet. The thing that’s frustrating is that I just don’t really know WHAT’S going on!!!! Hence returning to the story for more feedback and revisions. At the end of the day, I do love this book a *lot* and want to share it with the world – just not sure how that’s going to happen yet.
- If you’re just DYING for a sneak peak, take a look at this! As a milestone award, I asked the amazing artists I’d worked with previously to paint their versions of my favorite scene. Please don’t laugh but I drew my own version to give them a reference:

And then they made good art!!!

I love comissioning artists so I hope to do it more for this book! And if I do end up going the indie route, there’s always the absolute unmitiaged delight of cover art to look forward to!
